I'm lookin to get myself a nice gaming rig and was recommended this package

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 0-9112%20E

XFX nForce 630i Socket 775 Barebone Kit - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 OEM, 4GB Corsair PC6400, 500GB SATA II, ATX Clear Side Mid-Tower Case, 550 Watt Power Supply ...

I know I will need a dedicated GPU , I was thinkin a Geforce 9800GTX... Also a Sound card... is that all I need? I've never pieced together a computer before, only graphics card's and ram where I only had to load drivers. I assume I would install the mobo to the case, then just install the stuff where it needs to go and run wires... but what comes next? Would I have to flash the bios or stuff like that, is it very difficult? I'm an electronic's technician by trade, but mainly RF and aircraft components, not computer stuff. My main goal is to be able to play games like CoD5 and Crysis at full graphics without breakin the bank, Thanks ahead :23)

Only thing good in the setup is the CPU and Hard drive. You need a bigger Power supply, Better motherboard, faster memory and a better air flowing case and the Nvidia 8800gt video cards are faster than the 9800 to.

A real gaming system will cost a few bucks but if you want to save a few bucks get something you can build on and get an ASUS or XFI Gaming Motherboard that can run in SLI mode(SLI is so u can run 2 video Cards if you want), no less than a 800watt power supply (Video card is gonna need it) and a Good air flowing case. Intel is a good processor but very pricy and don't let know one turn you away from AMD processors, I'm running a 6500MHz AMD Duel Core and a nvidia 8800GT video card and I can play all them games full blast.

How much do you figure a decent gaming rig would cost, considering I were to piece one together.

That would be hard to say. You could spend over $1500 easy in just building the tower alone

Thing is, If you dont put your stuff in a good air flowing case your gonna have heat problems and its not gonna run good for long. It may be killer for the first month or 2 then your gonna wonder whats going on

Remember, You got to pay to play. :200)

I figure around $500 ? Or is that not really enough to do anything?

Also I would go with AMD insted of Intel cause the Intel's are a lot higher in price. Does not mean there faster just means they cost more

RAIDMAX Tornado ATX-238WR Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $42
ASUS M3N72-D AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard W/SeaSonic M12 SS-600HM 600W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS $224.98
AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor $104.99
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit $109.00
BFG Tech BFGE88512GTSE GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card $169.99
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $59.99
SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe $19.99

Now this would be a Killer system but it totals $730.93+ some shipping
you can widdle some of this down to a smaller system but if you can swing this you would be amazed at the speed of this beast for only about $750

Let me know and I can tell you what to widdle down and not hurt you much.
Your gonna build it right?

SUPER TALENT memory is a no no for gaming!!!
XFX Motherboards, well I just don't care for them for Gaming systems!!
And for the price I would go with the Quad core even if it is 2.5ghz cause your can OC that baby well over 3.0ghz and u got 4 cores of power
You need Good Motherboard even if you slack a little on the rest, Remember this.
I would take the 8800 card over the 9600 anyday. Test results has proved this also.

Let me know what u gonna do?
